DEATH : During the old ages, people would use them as means of communication to the afterlife. Girls often use this to call their fallen boyfriends from war. The pestle acts as a "telephone" to talk to the decease while the mortar holograms their loved ones.
GAME: Back in those days it wouldn't be uncommon to see little boys playing a game of "Throw the Pestle". How this works is they would throw the pestle (while making sure it spins in after it lands) on top of the mortar. Whoever gets to spin their pestle the longest wins.
FASHION: Many wouldn't believe, but this was considered the "IN" thing way back then. Guys often wear mortars on top of their heads as a symbol of machoness while the girls would wear one pestle to either one of their ears to show the are ready for love.
